Below are common medication dosing charts. Tips:
If you know your child's weight, it is better to use their weight to get the dose than the age.
Motrin, Benadryl and Claritin/Zyrtec dosing are only for children 6 months and older.
Tylenol:
Infant's and Children's tylenol are the same concentration. That means the dose is the same, whether you have Infant's or Children's suspension. For example: if your child weighs 15 lbs, they can have 2.5 mL of infant's tylenol OR 2.5 mL of children's tylenol.
Motrin:
Infant's and Children's Motrin are NOT the same concentration. That means the dose is NOT the same if you have Infant's vs Children's. For example, if your child weighs 15 lbs, they can have 1.25mL of Infant's motrin, OR 2.5 mL of children's motrin. Do not give motrin if your child is under 6 months old.
Benadryl:
Only comes only in "children's" liquid preparation, which is 12.5mg/5ml strength. There is no "infant's benadryl" liquid available. Only give if your child is older than 6 months old.
